Fr. George Hatz

Born in Detroit, MI on May 26, 1926, he graduated Wilber Wright High School - Detroit and then attended Wayne State University.

Fr. George studied Theology under Bishop Timothy Negropontis, Father Sam Gouvalis, Father Nick Harbatis, Fr. George Dovas, and James Bakalis, and taught Auto Mechanics at Detroit Public Schools.

He is married to Presbytera Helen L. Hatz, housewife and Sunday School Assistant Supervisor. They have three children: Michael, Marcia (deceased) and Tula.

President of St. Nicholas Church in Detroit 1975-1976.

Ordained to diaconate in 1985 and presbyter in 1990 by Bishop Timothy Negropontis of Detroit, he received the Offikia of Protopresbyter on April 15, 2011 from Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit.

Father served the Church of Annunciation in Kalamazoo, MI 1985 – 1990 and stabilized the parish after many years of part-time priests.

Fr. Hatz is currently serving as an Auxiliary Priest at the St. Nicholas Church in Troy, MI from 1990 to present by assisting the Pastor in Liturgical Services and Sacraments.

Among his favorite activities: to be active in senior citizens activities and socialize during coffee hour.
