Fr. Paul Bebis

 

Father Paul Bebis was born in New Bedford, MA and is a son of a Greek Orthodox Priest, Father Constantine. Father Paul has been a priest for more than 12 years and has served in two communities, the first in Enfield, CT and the second in Fort Wayne, IN.

Father Paul graduated from New Bedford High School in 1977 and had continued his education at Emerson College in Boston, MA graduating Magna Cum Laude in Mass Communication. He pursued his career in Broadcast Journalism in the southeastern coast of Massachusetts, for Father Paul was a weekday and sports day anchor for WBSM Radio in New Bedford for 4 years. Father Paul had a sports talk show as well as doing play by play for local high school sports. Father Paul also covered many meetings, city, county and state, as well as reporting on the scene to many fires, homicides, and weather related stories. Father Paul won a prestigious Radio Southeastern Massachusetts Broadcasting Award for being the first reporter to interview the family of Mike Eruzione, the Captain of the USA hockey team who scored the winning goal to beat the Russians in the Olympics in 1980. Father Paul then became news director and sports director for WALE Radio in Fall River, MA for 3 and half years before entering the Seminary at Holy Cross. When working as a broadcaster, Father Paul completed his requirements for a second Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Massachusetts.

Father Bebis had finished his seminary requirements in 1994. Since he was not married and waiting to be ordained, he worked as a school teacher for 6 years while working at Home Depot as a sales representative until marrying Miss Terry Khirallah in the year 1999. They have one boy, Joshua, who is ten years old. Presbytera Terry currently is a teacher's assistant for the Northwest Alien Public Schools in Fort Wayne, IN and has served there for three years. Prior to her marriage, she was an office manager for an appraisal office in the city of Boston for 15 years. Presbytera Terry holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Mass Communications.

Father Paul was ordained to the priesthood in 2000 by Metropolitan Methodios at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Bedford, MA before hundreds of people. Father Paul served as a deacon in Lynn, MA for 3 months and he later was ordained to the Priesthood in Norwich, Connecticut, that same year. Father Paul is currently serving his church in Fort Wayne, IN. He enjoys sports and reading.
