Fr. Stavros Ballas

Fr. Stavros Ballas, son of James and Aspasia, was born on May 16, 1957 and raised in Keene, New Hampshire. He earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.

In 1992 he married Theano (Thea) Gormanos, daughter of John and Karrie of Spokane, Washington. Presbytera Thea has worked in secretarial and office administration positions, mostly church related. She enjoys cooking and baking (not to mention political debate).

In 1994 Fr. Stavros entered the Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1997. After several months of further study in Greece, Fr. Stavros was ordained by His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon to the holy Diaconate at Holy Trinity Cathedral in New York City on March 8, 1998 and to the holy Priesthood on April 4, 1998 at Saint George’s in Southgate, Michigan, serving as assistant priest under Fr. Philemon Karamanos until October, 2001. Fr. Stavros served the Assumption parish in Flint, Michigan through 2005 and presently serves Annunciation in Chattanooga, Tennessee (2006-present). He has served as Secretary of the Clergy Syndesmos and Chairman of the Metropolis Oratorical Festival. At the consecration of Saint George’s in Southgate in 2003, Archbishop Demetrios bestowed the Office of Economos upon him.
