Archbishop Demetrios Reappoints Aphrodite Skeadas National Philoptochos President

New York, NY – His Eminence Archbishop
Demetrios offered the opening prayer at the first meeting of the National
Philoptochos Board for the 2010-2012 term and announced the appointment of
Aphrodite Skeadas for a second term as National Philoptochos President. His
Eminence congratulated President Skeadas for the outstanding accomplishments of
her first term.
Archbishop Demetrios then offered the oath of office to the national board that approved the following Executive Board members: Arlene Siavelis, First Vice President; Maria Stavropoulos, Second Vice President; Kathy Gabriel, Third Vice President; Elaine Cladis, Secretary; Joanne Kakoyiannis, Treasurer and Martha Stefanidakis, Assistant Treasurer. In his remarks to the board His Eminence reminded the members that each must share the talents she has received.
President Skeadas thanked Archbishop Demetrios for the honor to serve as National President and stated that the National Board of Philoptochos for the term 2010 to 2012 humbly and respectfully accepts the charge bestowed by His Eminence to represent the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America with honor, determination and compassion while we minister to the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
She committed the board to adhere to the organization’s principles and to foster love and good will with all people in our communities, to create programs of hope and action in response to social crises and to produce the blueprint of services for generations to follow.
She emphasized that National Board members are in a key leadership position and they represent surety, resilience, professionalism, intelligence, poise, structure, creativity, capability and influence. She charged all the members to work as a united group, under the Chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, to lead the organization into the future.
