In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Glory to You, our God, glory to You!
Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of truth, Who are present everywhere and fulfilling all things, the Treasury of blessings and Source of life, come abide in us, and cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls, O Good One.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3 times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us of our sins. Master, forgive our transgressions. Holy One, look down on us and heal our infirmities, to the glory of Your Name.
Lord, have mercy. (3 times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Our Father, Who are in the heavens, hallowed be your Name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Tropars
Having risen from sleep, we fall before You, O Good One, and we sing to You, mighty One, the angelic hymn: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O Lord. Through the Birthgiver of God, have mercy on us.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
From bed and sleep You have raised me, O Lord, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips that I may praise you, O Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God. Through the Birthgiver of God, have mercy on us.
Now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Suddenly the Judge shall come, and the deeds of each shall be laid bare; but let us with fear cry out in the middle of the night: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God. Through the Birthgiver of God, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy (12 times). Glory… Now and ever…
Prayer of St. Makarios, to the Holy Trinity
As I rise from sleep, I thank You, O Holy Trinity, for through Your great goodness and patience You were not angry with me, an idler and sinner, nor have You destroyed me in my iniquities, but have shown Your usual love for mankind; and when I was prostrate in despair, You have raised me to keep the morning watch and glorify Your power. Enlighten also my spiritual eyes, and open my mouth that I may meditate on Your words, and understand Your commandments, and do Your will, and hymn You with a thankful heart, and sing praises to Your most holy name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Second Prayer of St. Makarios
O God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have never done anything good in Your sight; but deliver me from the evil one, and let Your will be in me, that I may open my unworthy mouth without condemnation, and praise Your holy Name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Third Prayer of St. Makarios
Having risen from sleep, I hasten to You, O Master, Lover of mankind, and by Your loving kindness, I strive to do Your work, and I pray to You: Help me at all times, in everything, and deliver me from every worldly, evil thing and every impulse of the devil, and save me and lead me into Your eternal kingdom. For You are my Creator, and the Giver and Provider of everything good, and in You is all my hope, and to You I lift my praise, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Fourth Prayer of St. Makarios
O Lord, Who in Your abundant goodness and Your great compassion has granted me, Your servant, to go through the time of the night that has passed without any attack from the adversary, grant also, O Master and Creator of all things, that I may accomplish Your will in Your true light and with an illumined heart, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
The Creed
I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible, and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten not created, of one essence with the Father through whom all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and he suffered and was buried. On the third day he rose according to the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father, who together with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke through the prophets. In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, I expect the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the ages to come. Amen.
Prayer of St. Basil the Great
Almighty Lord, God of the Powers and of all flesh, Who live in the highest and care for the humble, Who search our hearts and affections, and truly foreknow the secrets of men; eternal and ever-living Light, in Whom is no alteration nor shadow of change; O Immortal King, receive our prayers which we now offer to You from unclean lips, trusting in the multitude of Your mercies. Forgive all sins committed by us in thought, word or deed, consciously or unconsciously, and cleanse us from all defilement of flesh and spirit. Grant us to pass the night of this life with watchful heart and sober mind, awaiting the coming of the radiant day of the appearing of Your only-begotten Son, our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ, when the Judge of all will come with glory to render to each according to their deeds. May we not be found fallen and idle, but awake and alert for action, ready to accompany Him into the joy and bridal chamber of His glory, where the voice of those who feast is unceasing and unspeakable is the delight of those who behold the inexpressible beauty of Your countenance. For You are the true Light that enlightens and sanctifies all, and all creation sings hymns to You unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Prayer to the Guardian Angel
O Angel of God, my Holy Guardian, given to me from heaven by God for my protection, enlighten me this day, and save me from all evil, instruct me in doing good deeds, and set me on the path of salvation. Amen.
Prayer to the Holy Theotokos
O my Most Holy Lady Birthgiver of God, through your holy and all-powerful prayers, banish from me, your lowly and wretched servant, despondency, forgetfulness, folly, carelessness, and all filthy, evil, and blasphemous thoughts from my wretched heart and my darkened mind. Quench the flame of my passions also, for I am poor and wretched, and deliver me from many and cruel memories and deeds, and free me from all their evil effects. For blessed are you by all generations, and glorified is your most honorable name unto the ages of ages. Amen.
